University Delivery Qualification

A partial UTQ trajectory
Laurinde Koster Risbo

Are you looking for a way to further develop your teaching skills? Would you like to give a quality boost to your daily teaching practice and student guidance? The University Delivery Qualification (UDQ) trajectory provides the perfect opportunity to further professionalize yourself as a teacher in higher or academic education.

In the UDQ trajectory, you will learn from and with each other on topics such as student motivation, active learning, inclusive education, effectively conveying new information, and presentation. If your teaching duties focus primarily on the implementation of education during working groups or lectures, rather than the course design or assessment, the UDQ trajectory is a good fit.

Partial certificate

The UDQ trajectory results in the partial certificate of University Teaching Qualification (UTQ) or Basic Didactic Competence (Basis Didactische Bekwaamheid/BDB). This allows you to be exempted from the 'implementation' part of the UTQ, both at EUR as well as at other universities and universties of applied sciences in the Netherlands, if you want to obtain this qualification at a later stage.

"The UDQ trajectory has given me the opportunity to see how I can make my teaching style more fun and interactive. Every junior (and senior) teacher could learn from the kind lessons of the Risbo didactic experts." (UDQ Participant 2024)

Learning outcomes

In the UDQ, we work on the following learning outcomes:

  • Provide activating instruction that allows you to meet the learning needs of students
  • Integrating feedback, received during the trajectory, to improve your performance as a teacher
  • Guiding student activities, promoting student learning.

Course structure

The UDQ trajectory consists of the following elements:

  • 3 Half-day training sessions focused on basic didactics (blended format, peer learning and in-class practice with mini-instruction)
  • Taking one of the modules 'Coaching (thesis) students' or 'Group dynamics'
  • A lesson observation and a coaching interview with one of Risbo's educational experts
  • 2 Proofs of competence to demonstrate your mastery of the learning outcomes
  • An inspiration session where all participants share key insights and best practices, including festivities and handing out the certificates

“Do it! You will enjoy the training sessions and learn a lot.”  (UDQ participant 2024)
