Factory workers

Since 2024, Risbo has been managing the only research panel in the Netherlands that consists entirely of migrant workers who work or have worked in the Netherlands. The members of the panel are invited to complete an online questionnaire a few times a year. This gives us an insight into the real opinions and experiences of migrant workers: very important for organisations and governments that need to make and implement policies that are relevant to this target group.

Would you like to conduct research?

The panel is available for use by third parties. Are you interested and would you like to know more about the possibilities for using the panel? Please feel free to contact us: You can do so via the contact form on our website or by sending a direct message to Youri Seidler, researcher and coordinator of the panel (see the contact details below).

Research results

Risbo has long and extensive experience in conducting research into the position of migrant workers. For example, we have conducted research into the position of children and the relationship to social cohesion. Since 2024, Risbo has been working on a multi-year research programme to gain insight into the experiences of migrant workers with regard to their position in the Netherlands. To this end, we surveyed more than 4,000 migrant workers. The report Zicht Op Arbeidsmigranten (Insight into migrant workers, 2024) contains the results of the first measurement in this perception study.

In addition, Risbo is investigating whether the efforts resulting from the recommendations of the Labour Migrants Acceleration Team are also reflected in a better position for labour migrants.

RUNOMI-Risbo Knowledge Programme

In 2024, Radboud University and Risbo launched the RUNOMI-Risbo Knowledge Programme on Labour Migration. The organisations are conducting joint research on migrant workers and labour migration and are also ensuring that existing data and insights from the Knowledge Centre for Migrant Workers remain available and usable for science and politics.

History panel

The research panel was established in 2021 by the Knowledge Centre for Migrant Workers and has since been used seven times for studies into, among other things, the housing, working and living conditions of migrant workers, their knowledge of and access to healthcare and labour law, their future prospects and their language skills in the Netherlands. In November 2024, the Knowledge Centre for Migrant Workers transferred its scientific activities to the Radboud University Network on Migrant Inclusion and Risbo.
