Europe is facing a number of important social, economic and educational challenges. It has to rise to the challenges posed by global interdependencies and unprecedented transformations, which strongly affect its capacity to ensure economic growth and more jobs, social stability and a good educational system.
For the last ten years Risbo has been participating in several European projects which stress the integration of the young generation in an innovative, inclusive and sustainable Europe, but also analysing the societal participation of vulnerable groups in neighbourhoods in the EU countries.

• Between 2005 and 2007 we participated in a project between Germany and the Netherlands: 'Sozialer Zusammenhalt und Integration in komplexen Stadtgesellschaften'. The goal of the project was the cross-border exchange of experience on complex processes of social integration and participation in society on the one hand, and disintegration and segregation of immigrants on the other. Between 2008 and 2010 we were part of the 'Connections' project (DG Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities) where in eight cities good practices concerning social inclusion were peer reviewed. Together with the research department of the municipality we start building a peer review model to use in European projects: we further developed this model in an educational project called 'Evidence based policy and practice in education', together with Antwerp: (http://www.comparelocaleducation.eu/Portals/EducationalSystems/documents/EU-brochure-total_version.pdf).
• At the moment Risbo is participating in SIRIUS, an European Policy Network on the education of children and young people with a migrant background. We organized peer reviews in Zagreb, Antwerp and Oslo and organized meetings where politicians and teachers could share their experience and ideas. We also developed questionnaires on citizenship and language, to understand these topics in various contexts in the EU countries.
