Risbo’s objectives are simple: Based on the guiding principles of innovation, quality enhancement and efficiency, Risbo aims to provide advice and training tailored to the client’s needs and to generate intriguing research results.

We are eager to pursue these aims, as we know that the client and society as a whole will benefit from it. We have the means to achieve these aims – we have a thorough understanding of the field and are curious and engaged. That curiosity compels us to closely monitor social trends and developments. Our understanding of how they influence society arises from an in-depth knowledge of the field. Our unrestrained enthusiasm in brainstorming alongside our clients about all aspects of research, training and consulting projects is rooted entirely in our commitment to our clients and to society.

 

Not only are we experts in our field, delivering professional quality, but we also make an active contribution to developing our clients’ expertise.

 

Growing knowledge

Risbo maintains a strong focus on the full range of scientific developments related to learning and society and participates in relevant professional organisations round the world. Our knowledge and expertise grow with every innovative project we take on. In addition to the work we do for our clients, we also conduct independent scientific research. We submit our research proposals to the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO), SURF and the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (OCW).

 

Risbo = quality

Choosing Risbo means choosing quality and expertise, whether it involves ethnographic fieldwork or data collection using innovative high-tech facilities. Many of the Risbo staff members have experience in research, consultancy and training. Add to that the diverse and enriching backgrounds contributed by our employees (e.g. education science, public administration, psychology, sociology) and it becomes evident why our multidisciplinary teams can work so effectively, using a solution-driven approach and truly tailoring the response to the needs of the situation.

Because we believe in short chains of command and personal engagement, we make sure that our clients have a permanent contact representative and a dedicated research team.

 

Our clients

In recent years, we have conducted research for various schools, universities and education institutes at all levels of secondary and tertiary education. Our research clients have also included municipal authorities, school boards, government ministries, companies, NGOs and the European Commission. Risbo is expert and professional, curious and engaged, and our clients sense that in our cooperation, both in what we do and in how we maintain our relationships.

 

Facts about Risbo

Risbo was founded over 25 years ago. The current form of the organisation, however, was established in 2005 following the merger with the Education Expertise Centre (OECR), which is also affiliated with EUR. At the time of the merger, the OECR had existed for seven years.

 

Risbo employs about 35 people, primarily researchers, advisors and research assistants. We have an ICT developer on staff, as well as a team of support staff. Risbo is headed by a general scientific manager.
